Rancho Cucamonga California Form 8857: What You Should Know

National Register of Historic Places. The Molina Plow Company Building, Jackson County, Missouri National Register of Historic Places. The Molina Plow Co. Building, Jackson County, Missouri Sole source: The Molina Building is unique in that it was the product of the effort and creativity of people working together to save the historic building of a company that had suffered a significant setback. This building continues to serve as an example of the importance of preserving historic properties in all parts of the country, and especially in the South. It is recognized nationally as one of the best examples that can be found of how a unique, but otherwise unique, building could be saved from demolition and transformed into a working agricultural building. It was the first building completed in the Midwest in 1910, constructed under the direction of John B. Dylan, and for many years the only agricultural building on the campus of the Molina Plow Company. Furthermore, it was one of only four buildings from the Dylan Manufacturing Company in Kansas City, Missouri to survive World War I and serve as a source of pride among the Missouri University alumni and faculty. There was a significant setback in early 1922 when the company discontinued operations. A number of different entities attempted to make a sale of the property, but all failed. In August 1922 the city of Kansas City issued a notice of intent to demolish the building. On 16 December 1922 the building was declared vacant and designated an unsafe condition. The city sought assistance from the U.S. Marshal. One of the major efforts to save the building was by the Missouri History Foundation, Kansas City Chapter. In the fall of 1923, the Foundation applied for a National Historic Landmark designation. In February 1924 the Foundation began working with Missouri State Senator Henry A. Mabel whose State of Missouri Historic Preservation Act provided for the National Historic Landmark designation of the building. A federal grant was offered in the amount of 100,000 to help the Foundation, with the Foundation making a capital contribution of 50,000. The Foundation raised another 50,000 from foundations throughout Kansas and Missouri, together with 50,000 from Molina, which was divided between the Foundation and the Missouri History Foundation. As a result of this effort, the first National Register of Historic Places was designated in the United States for the first time in Kansas.
